Nothing beats this view. You can hike to the visitor’s platform for a view over Wineglass Bay, or you could tackle the harder hike to the top of Mt. Amos.

Every Saturday, Salamanca Market is held on the Hobart waterfront. It offers some fantastic local produce, handicrafts, and local talented artists. With over nearly 300 stallholders, expect to find everything from hand-carved woodwork to fashion to glassware and ceramics.

  1. Visit Port Arthur Historic Site

 

Tasmania’s turbulent past is on display at the convict settlement of Port Arthur, about an hour’s drive southeast of Hobart.You can browse fascinating documents and relics of the penal settlement in the museum, visit the nearby Coal Mines Historic Site, or join an evening lantern-lit “ghost tour” of the ruins. After touring Port Arthur, explore the soaring sea cliffs and sheltered coves of the spectacular Tasman peninsula by driving along the coast.
